Lessons
I am able to teach lessons in Madison and Janesville during the summers and in Appleton during the school year.
I offer lessons in
- guitar
- jazz improvisation
- composition
- music theory
Guitar instruction can range from beginner to advanced. I specialize in classical, jazz, and rock/pop styles of playing but am happy to assist students wherever their interests lie. Usually a bit of music theory is mixed in, depending on the student's skill level, in order to gain essential musicianship skills
Jazz improvisation can be given for any instrument. These lessons work on the basic language of jazz and concepts essential to jazz improvisation, using standard tunes as the foundation of the lesson plan.
Composition lessons focus on giving students the necessary tools to express themselves musically and communicate to other musicians. Through listening assignments and by focusing on specific parameters of music, the student will create short compositions which not only act as a creative outlet but also broaden their understanding of the language of music.
Music theory lessons are adapted to fit the student's specific needs. A combination of written and aural exercises are used to familiarize the student with the "rules" of Western tonal music.
Feel free to use the contact form below to get ahold of me or send me an email/text/phone call. You can find all of that info on the contact page
